Welcome to the forums.
Welcome to Guildwars.

Builds, there are plenty of builds in this forum. Please feel free to check out the builds thread here and the Ranger builds in the Farming Sub-forum.

Secondary Professions is a matter of style. No one 2nd profession is good for everyone. Everyone has their own style of play and thus their own unique decision on what they want to have as a secondary profession. My advise is simple, look at what your Ranger can and cannot do (look through all the skills and see what they can do). I'll let you in on a few things they cannot do. Hard Rez, only Monks and Ritualists have this. What it is, is a resurrection skill (spell) that can be used over and over again. A Rez Signet, however, can only be used once, until you gain a morale boost (or kill a boss or go into town). Rangers cannot cast spells (they have abilities, but no spells). Rangers cannot remove hexes nor remove most conditions (they can remove poison, disease and blindness).

Factions only does make a difference, as many will tell you, a lot of good skills are in Prophecies only, so keep that in mind when you look at other people's builds for inspiration.

Good luck and have fun.
